Dear Parents,

Welcome back to this very special year at NVA. Above you see our theme for this school year. As we always do each year, we couple working on developing not only our minds but also our hearts.

As we begin this year, we will take time to think of all the things that we have which are gifts in our lives. Any student who fills out their personal list of 10 reasons for which they are thankful and turns it in to Mrs. McFadyen by September 30th will receive a small reward. (Lists will come home with students from their classrooms.)  Students in preschool are welcome to dictate their list or to draw pictures.

To begin, I’d like to share my list with you! As this year begins, I am thankful:

  • To have a job I love.
  • To work with remarkable students and families.
  • To have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate cultures from throughout the world.
  • To work with the most amazing Home Reading Program Teachers ever assembled.
  • To be part of a staff that celebrates the unlimited potential of all children.
  • To have a desk next to a window!
  • To sponsor our NVA Chess Team once again…(you may want to join!)
  • To share the love of reading and poetry with our students.
  • To have a laptop that’s running faster, thanks to Mrs. Elias’ husband.
  • To have the gift of one more day.
