Dear Parents, Pablo Casals said, “The love of one’s country is a splendid thing, but why stop at the border?” This year, as we plan ahead for our World’s Fair, we are aware of the richness of the many cultures throughout our school, in our own country and around our world. While many Americans will be celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza, many of our families have celebrated Eid and Diwali already, and many of our families are looking ahead to Têt and Chinese New Year. When we celebrate, as the dictionary tells us, we ‘observe a day with ceremonies of respect, festivity and rejoicing.’ Each of these special occasions reflect such feelings. And the true joy of New Vistas is that, as we love and appreciate our own celebrations and learn about the celebrations of others, we are connected by these mutual feelings. So as we look to our World’s Fair and ahead to 2011, we are excited by the continuing opportunity to be part of our worldwide New Vistas’ family. Each special family, representing each different celebration, weaves a thread into the rich fabric that is our school. Each family, representing each celebration, has the greatest of hopes and dreams for their children. Each family, representing each celebration, makes our world brighter and stronger, more loving and more connected. We celebrate you all and your unwavering commitment to your children’s future.
