New Vistas Academy is widely recognized as an outstanding institution of learning in the East Valley of Chandler, Arizona. Our goal at New Vistas is to provide our students with the single best possible educational experience in a nurturing and challenging environment.

Students of New Vistas Academy are intelligent, confident, have high self-esteem, strong work ethic, and an amazing sense of self-motivation. The administration, teachers, and parents of New Vistas work together to support our students' social, emotional, and physical growth. We take great pride in the successes which occur within our building on a daily basis. We look forward and plan for the future while respecting and honoring the past.

HISTORY

New Vistas began twenty-nine years ago as the vision of two elementary school teachers dreaming of a school in which children would be able to reach their full academic potential in a caring and nurturing environment. It was this premise which has allowed New Vistas to become an exceptional, diverse school of preschool through sixth grade students, each striving to fulfill their own goals and each being challenged to work at academic levels significantly above their age and grade level.

Walking into New Vistas is like coming home. It is walking into a family; a family of effective directors, talented teachers, motivated students and dedicated parents. It is an environment unique to the field of education, and one which not only encourages families to return year after year, but continues to welcome new families with the start of each school year.

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of New Vistas Academy's educational program is to encourage the growth of individual students to enable them to fulfill their own potential.  We believe that each child has talents and gifts in some area and our dedication is to find that area and help the child experience success.

New Vistas Academy is a community sharing a common purpose and interest in teaching and learning.  Students are taught to appreciate the complexity and variety of the world in which they live.  The school attempts to develop each student's self-awareness as a responsible citizen of the school community and the community at large.  Students are encouraged to recognize their individual potential for contributing to their community and to humanity as a whole. We believe that students should not only develop great minds, but great hearts as well.

The curriculum offered by New Vistas Academy is based on a belief in the value of a traditional liberal education.  Social development and creativity are fostered through a variety of activities within the school. Each child is encouraged to interpret, follow directions, set reasonable goals and develop a sense of responsibility.  New Vistas recognizes that children differ in their rate and pattern of learning.  Individualized programs in reading and mathematics ensure that each student progresses at a pace that is realistic.  Good work habits and a mastery of basic skills are goals of New Vistas’ curriculum.

Students are taught the art of asking questions and the skill of thinking and reasoning logically.  Class size is kept small to make it possible for teachers to interact personally with individual students.  Students are encouraged to take risks in the acquisition of knowledge - to be willing to make mistakes and overcome failure.  Above all, New Vistas Academy attempts to stimulate intellectual curiosity and to foster a dedication to learning.

In addition to academic activity, the school assists the students in learning how to relate successfully to their peers.  The values of understanding, kindness and helpfulness are stressed.  The aim of the school is to provide an environment in which students feel self-assured and accepting of others.  The school expects each student to learn to be accountable for personal conduct.  Our goal is that each student will develop a greater sense of self-worth through learning self-sufficiency and a sense of pride in their work.

New Vistas Academy welcomes and relies on the support and involvement of the parents in its activities.  Open communication between parents and the school has always been valued and respected.  The school strives to be responsive to parental concerns at all levels.
